Every Thursday!
8:00-9:00pm Hip Hop Basics

Roman will break down the fundamentals of R&B style Hip Hop.  You will learn smooth body movement and footwork and how to accent your movements with the music.  This class will cater to those that have little or no Hip Hop dance experience.

9:00-10:00pm Salsa & Hip Hop Fusion
Learn how to incorporate the steps and flavor of Hip Hop into your Salsa dancing! Charlene and Roman will teach you a partnering pattern that is guaranteed to turn heads on the dance floor!  Intermediate level.

Attire
Wear clothing that is comfortable to move in.  Wear sneakers for Hip Hop Basics and dance sneakers, shoes, or heels for Salsa & Hip Hop Fusion.  Don't forget to bring bottled water.

Instructor Bios

 .Roman Vasquez
Coming from Phoenix, Arizona, Roman began his career as a hip-hop dancer. As his desire for dance grew, he received his technical training in his hometown and progressed while attending dance conventions and performing locally. As a member of the dance group "Northside Crew," he competed on "Star Search '93" and was the opening act for groups such as Boys to Men and Salt N Pepa. He also performed in "EFX with David Cassidy" at the MGM Grand Hotel, "Splash" at the Rivera and was a member of the Culture Shock Dance Troupe in Las Vegas. Now residing in Los Angeles, Roman has had the opportunity to work with artists such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Celine Dion, Eva Longoria, Roselyn Sanchez, Anastacia, Joy Enriquez and the Backstreet Boys. Other television and video credits include Dance with Jerry Springer Pepsi, Sprite, EL Pollo Loco,  Days of Our Lives and Tina Landons Instructional video.  He has also choreographed and performed with companies such as Nike, Fubu, Jnco and Redkin.

Among the likes of great talent in the salsa world, Charlene has performed and given workshops internationally, and with some of the most world renowned Salseros including Rogelio Moreno, Alex da Silva, Alfonso Caldera, David Nieto, and Francisco Vazquez.

Charlene's first love as far as dancing goes was ballet, in which she began her training at about 8 years old. At 18, she decided to continue pursuing her passion at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA where she majored in dance and musical theater. It was during her tenure at Cornish that Charlene was exposed to the Latin dances, and she fell in love instantly.

Charlene was inspired to take her salsa career to the next level when she realized the height to which salsa could be taken, after seeing videos online of the Mayan Salsa Competition, and also the West Coast Salsa Congress.

Some of her accomplishments in salsa include:

- First Place 2009 Top L.A. Salsera Competition
- First Place 2008 Mayan World Salsa Championships
- 3rd Place 2007 ESPN World Salsa Championships On 1
- Appeared on FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance", and was featured in US Weekly, OK Weekly, and Variety Magazines for her participation on the show.
- Appeared on NBC's "America's Got Talent"

Charlene now resides in Los Angeles, CA where she continues to pursue her passion for dance and performing, Charlene has added to her credits a sizable list of films, television programs, music videos, commercials, modeling campaigns, and theater productions.

Charlene continues to perform, choreograph, and instruct for audiences and students around the world. She also founded and directs her own performance group in Los Angeles, Charlene Rose Dance Company, which provides performance opportunities and dance skills to salsa afficionados from the Amateur to Professional level. The Company provides dancers who have never trained or performed with the opportunity to be part of a company, work with professionals, travel, compete, and be part of a truely unique experience.
